This picture depicts a younger me filled with sadness and raw emotion because I had gotten in trouble and wasn’t allowed off the porch. Growing up, there was nothing worse than watching your friends have fun and not being able to join in because of punishment. I remember this picture vividly. Taken by my mother who relished in my punishment caused by my bad decision making. "2909 W. Grand Ave" is 1 of 13 pieces from my 3rd solo show, Detroit: A Childhood Nostalgia in Pigments. The show is inspired by memories of growing up in Detroit as a kid.
